Quote

November 17th, 2008

“Let your writing reflect only the wisdom of pain or of delight which life
has most deeply revealed to you. Nothing else is worth your time or the time
of any reader. Poetry’s first requirement is sincerity and the single aim
should be to write as though there were no audience other than the writer’s
own heart”

-William Percy

A reminder…

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”-Leo Buscaglia

Creative Criticism

6a00d83453083969e200e5517fd52f8833-800wi.jpgAs a part of Creative Chaos today… I find myself itching to take risks and chances in my world of creativity. Be it in the planning and brainstorming for our weekend services, or in other areas of my art. When one area seems unwilling, uninterested, or uninspired in “out of the norm” thinking / planning I tend to focus on my music / writing, drawing, photos, or whatever. I love graphic above!

Yesterday I found myself looking forward to my out of the office coffee hangs at Merridees during the afternoon. Which got to thinking, I love my office vibe, hang, and team but sometimes one just needs to be in on neutral grounds so to speak. Merridees (a bakery-coffee shop in downtown Franklin) seems to be where I feel most creative. I think it is for some of the following reasons.

-I am able to see people outside of the church campus. They look different, talk different, and act different. These are the people I want to keep in mind when creating services / elements.-The windows allow me to see the rest of the world driving and walking around.

-Bottomless coffee (especially my african smoke coffee).

-The locals always remind me where I am. Franklin is all about the music city “hustle”. This allows me to think of them when I create and strategize. I think it also gives me a perspective that this area is NOT normal and that reality check is a good thing sometimes.

We ALL think highly of ourselves from time to time, but the art in which I take part in creating will hopefully show a reflection of the One that we can all find our true value in.

Thanks for stopping by. I realize there is something wrong with wordpress on this post. I have had a few comments and emails about comments not being working, etc. I have no idea what’s up. Frik. Sorry.
