Thinking big picture…

September 15th, 2008

Having just come out of a series at TPC called “Live Like You Were Dying”, I have been evaluating somethings as I try desperately to grab some perspective on life and what I do with the time I’m given.

I have been around young people, teens, and youth for around a decade now. Wow. I will always have a soft spot for young people. “They got next!” They are the “next generation (s).” My generation is just now starting to get settled into some influencial positions where we are making the calls, hiring the younger, and casting visions for the future- Just wait and see in November’s election. So the reality has started to sink in. I am not as young as I used to be, and I’m cool with that. Here is why…

Mentoring has been and is very important to me. I have learned a lot from those who have invested time, and wisdom into me. I can only hope to continue that into other young and upcoming musicians, artists, and leaders.

I’m pretty protective of my time and how I spent it, but for leaders around my age and older, we have GOT to find time to spend hanging, listening, talking, and investing in those who are going to replace all of us one day. We can’t worry about feeling uncool, unworthy, or whatever. It’s time to “think big picture”. Leave a legacy of sorts.

I remember standing with the other youth leadership of TPC a few years back praying over the students. Just a handful of those students are pictured below. You just never know what small part you might be able to play in the life of a student, musician or athlete. Some of your time, prayer, and wisdom can go a long way.

My friends got mad skills PT3

June 30th, 2008

Several years back, I met 3 of the 4 that now make up this band. They were all 3 crazy talented then, and NOW… crazy whack funky talented.

Paramore’s latest release “Riot” is approaching freaking 1,000,000 / platinum status. It’s actually in the 900,000s at the present. I KNOW I KNOW… I talk Paramore a lot. AND I WILL! B/C they are great at what they do, and umm… I am proud of my homies.

A couple of other homies that are getting ready to hit your ears are Joel and Luke. I have known these guys and their family almost longer than anyone I know in Nashville.

Joel and Luke are two guys that come from a talented family. You are destined to hear more from these guys. Real artists making real music. Go grab their EP. It’s great.

Their sis is pretty cool as well.
