I’ve been a dreamer my whole life. My family would always talk about my imagination. I’ll be honest, I still find myself pretending, imagining, and day-dreaming. One of my favorite things to do these days is to watch my boys play together. They are quite creative and imaginative. My hope is that I will never hold them back, but give them the wings to fly and pray that their Creator is their wind.
As I grow older with each passing year, I’m realizing that a person is not old until their regrets take the place of their dreams.
I’ve been extremely blessed and lucky to have many people over the course of life that have given me wings to fly. Those wings were stages, platforms, partnerships, & opportunities. With all of the ridiculous decisions I’ve made over the years, I’ve learned from those mistakes. They have left scars. They have weighed me down and held me back. Without mentors and friends that have helped me pick myself up after I was knocked down, I now realize more than ever that I would not be able to to dream to the extent I find myself dreaming.
For several years I was mentored by another dreamer. He created a creative endeavor called recreate. He taught me to risk, grow, and yes… dream. As a result of the creative experiences like recording, touring, writing, mentoring groups, recreate, & community, I’m continuing to dream. Not only am I dreaming, I’m doing. Putting actions on your dreams are what separates the “did it” from the “could’ve, should’ve”. Everyone that supports an idea by joining in the effort, is someone that is helping a dreamer actually fly.
