If you wrote a song tonight…

What would it be? Who would you want to hear it? Why?
I’ve written close to a hundred songs I would guess. Most of which, the world will never hear. Those weren’t meant for the anyone else to hear. Some were…
Tell me what you would write.

Chad Jarnagin. Songwriter. Worship Leader. Artist. Pastor. Creative Ideologist. Vocal Coach. Dreamer. I grew up around Cincinnati, OH and have lived in the Nashville area for over 10 years. I’m the Worship Arts Pastor of Rolling Hills Community Church in…

Haven’t written many (maybe a dozen to 15), but most, if not all, have been heard by no one. Probably never will be. Sort of sad really.
If I ever want to preserve them (lyrically speaking), I guess I better find a way to get them off that floppy disc and onto a CD or something.
If I wrote a song tonight, it would probably sound a lot like “All you need is love” by the Beatles. It’s been stuck in my head for days. I suppose I am just in a really happy place right now and truly feel love from almost every corner of my life. Parenthood has completely changed the way I view love and how it affects every aspect of my life….it’s a big change to go through, but it’s amazing to have this deeper understanding of love…how it’s expressed and received…how it looks and behaves.
I have never written a song, but if I were to write one tonight, it would be joyful, content and loud. I probably wouldn’t care who heard it because the message would be universal.
Good post, Chad. :)
I would write a song that is honest about a few things. Not sanitized. I wouldn’t care what religious people thought about the lyrical content. I would call some things out. I’d express anger about a few things. I’d express hope in the midst of it. I’d say what I think. I would stay away from the kinds of phrases people would expect me to say. This kind of song I’m thinking of has been written before. By those who dare.
Then I would write a song about you not including me in your Artists and Friends section of your blog roll.
