Mtv = Joke?
September 9th, 2008
The 2008 VMAs have a lot of people talking. So maybe they are getting what they wanted.
Before the show I said that the ONLY reason I am going to watch some of the VMAs was because of my friends in Paramore. There were a couple cool moments performance wise. The opening Rhianna tune was pretty cool in part, as well as Kayne’s closing song. Travis Barker and the DJ little filler slots were pretty cool, but that was about it.
As Jordan Sparks and John Legend presented an award, Jordan made a statement addressing the lame brit host Russell Brand. This dude had a funny moment when he kind of “apologized” to some of the crowd, but that only lasted for about 10 seconds. I find it odd when someone from another country entirely comes to the US and slams it’s politics. For the record, many of my friends are not fans of Bush or the last 8 years, and they STILL found Brand’s monolog lame.
Like I said on Twitter the night of, “How DO you have an award show of something that you don’t actually show? I haven’t seen an entire music video on mtv since ‘97.” It most definately wasn’t celebrating art.
Mtv, next year try to get back to the MUSIC. Does Mtv still stand for MUSIC television? Cause we’re all a little confused at your lameness.

Your personally friends with the guys in Paramore? thats awesome, i love Paramore…
Oh dear i doubt Russell Bombed!! We love that guy, but i guess he doesn’t translate to the USA :)
Ally. My guess is that he was out of his element. He wasn’t funny on the show, but I have seen him on other stuff. He CAN be funny… just wasn’t on the VMAs.
Cheers man.
