dang. that’s a great quote.
but, who is this “bono” you speak of?
As the great theologian the “Macho Man” Randy Savage used to say: “Ooooooooo yeah.”
I’m going to respectfully disagree with this quote. (Sorry Chad…sorry Bono…)
To explain myself simply, I don’t think religion in and of itself is a bad thing. By definition it’s a basic set of beliefs that we agree upon or things we practice (as Christians or otherwise). I’m thinking the Holy Spirit has something to do with that. But I think I know what Bono is referring to, in the same breath. I just need context with a quote like this.
rachel, i would say if one were to make a statement like this, they would obviously be talking about religion by definition. in addition to your definition above, it also goes to to be defined… “details of belief as taught or discussed… a particular system of faith and worship”. i can’t help but believe that the Holy Spirit is only a part of those who are following, accepting, and believing in Christ… not in a system, church belief, or rules alone.
if we would live by our faith in Jesus more instead of leaning on our religion and denominational rules the world would be a better place. that’s just my opinion.
that’s why this quote resonates with my heart.
thanks for chiming in!
Agreed, actually. I still think God uses religion in His Kingdom to an extent, but the center is Christ. He’s definitely the one we lean on.
Take care out there, amigo!
So if it’s called religion when the Holy Spirit leaves the room, what is it called when He is in the room? Thoughts?
great thought / question Mark. would love some others thought on that…
Its called relationship. No religion here, just relationship.
